IMPORTANT UPDATE! |
|
Changes to Fishing Forecast System:
Jan 10, 2009
Now Active! To access fishing
forecasts, use the following link: www.eProFishing.com
. Then use the Fishing Data Locator section to select the location
you want your forecast for. You have the ability to search by city
and state, zipcode, or directly call the forecast by gps coordinates. www.eProFishing.com
also provides Yahoo maps displaying locations of automated weather
stations, buoys, and USGS water monitoring stations that allow you to
access a wealth of environmental data. Another great feature is that
the fishing forecast system keeps track of the 5 most recent
locations you have retrieved so you can go back to them later.
If you have a particular fishing chart saved in your web browser
favorites on TimsFishPages.com, it's operation will be discontinued shortly. |

Take the Fishing Forecast System With You |
|
|
Nov 21, 2008 by Lee Adams
Check out this cool new service. It allows you to access fishing
forecasts, weather, buoy, tidal information and more, all from your
cell phone using text messaging. It's called CMS
which stands for Cell Messaging Service.
While trying this service out, I became hooked on it in a hurry. It
amazed me how I could access all this fishing information any time I
wanted to. Since I have good cell phone service most every where I
fish, I can get updates while I'm fishing. This is a feature I really like.

The other day I was out fishing on the skiff and the fish just
weren't very productive. After checking the tides and fishing
forecast for nearby locations, I made an informed decision to move to
another location, almost an hour ride from where I was. Boy, was I
glad I did. Shortly after I arrived, the fish were hitting something
fierce. Without this tool at my disposal, I probably wouldn't have
wasted the fuel and missed out on a good time. This one occasion had
me sold and made it worth having. Although this service didn't
actually tell me where to fish, it did give me the information I
needed to make an informed decision that paid off.
The only negative thing I could find was having to learn commands to
type in and send to get the information I actually wanted. I've never
been a big user of text messaging so I had to learn how to use this
feature of my phone. Seems a little time consuming at first, but
after using it a while, I have to admit it is fairly easy to do.
Also, I want to caution you that unless you have a text messaging
plan on your phone, you will be paying for each message on your cell
bill. Fortunately my phone plan already includes unlimited text messaging.
The service will also allow you to access fishing reports as they
become available in your area. They're not available in my area yet.
The service is reasonable, priced at just $4.95 a month and has a lot
of upcoming features planned.
